NBC to develop a Grimm spinoff series with female lead Deadline reports that NBC is currently in the process of developing a new spinoff based off their popular supernatural series Grimm with a female character in the lead. The untitled Grimm spinoff is expected to feature some of the original show’s fan favorite characters while also introducing new characters, new dangers and epic new mysteries. Brianna Hildebrand to star in Netflix’s series adaptation Trinkets According to Deadline , Deadpool actress Brianna Hildebrand has signed on to star in Netflix ‘s upcoming 10-episode series adaptation of author Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith’s young adult novel  Trinkets . Report: Lionsgate in talks to take up Roger Ailes biopic According to Deadline , Lionsgate may be in talks to take over director Jay Roach’s biopic on the late Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes . This news comes just days after Annapurna dropped the project , titled Fair and Balanced , over budget issues. The last estimate put the film’s budget over $35 million. Specifics of this new deal are unclear, as some sources say the project is in development, though reportedly nothing has been signed as yet. The film is described mostly as an ensemble piece, with the majority of the focus being on former Fox News chief Roger Ailes (John Lithgow,  The Crown ) and his ultimate downfall that came about after a number of women, including Gretchen Carlson (Nicole Kidman) and Megan Kelly (Charlize Theron), sued him for harassment. John Cena to star in Paramount Players’ comedy Playing With Fire Variety  is reporting that Blockers star John Cena is currently in the process of finalizing his negotiation deal with Paramount Players to star in the studio’s upcoming family comedy film Playing With Fire . Tom and Jerry and Scooby-Doo films in the works at Warner Bros. It looks like Warner Bros. is taking serious steps with its Warner Animation Group (WAG) . According to a report by Variety , the studio has brought in top-tier talents Tim Story and Chris Columbus to guide Tom and Jerry and Scooby-Doo to the big screen. Oh, and it also has plans for Wile E. Coyote and The Jetsons . First up, Warner Bros. has reportedly tapped Tim Story ( Fantastic Four , and 2019’s Shaft reboot) to direct a live-action/animated hybrid Tom and Jerry film. The popular cat and mouse feature will be the first live-action hybrid to shoot in 2019 (the second is Space Jam), and will utilize computer animation for the titular duo in a live action setting, ala 2004’s Garfield .
